Tell me a little about you, your family, where you went to school or received training, your work, hobbies. 

I’m 52, married. I have two sons. A 25 year old from a previous marriage named Ryan. My wife KC had AJ before we met. Aj is my 14 year old stepson. Hopefully one day, I’ll get one (or all three of them!!) to join me on this journey, but for now I’m the only Buddhist in the family.

I love traveling, especially around the Midwest. I love to be outside, in nature. Forest preserves and beaches are some of my favorite places to spend time. I’m an avid birdwatcher, so don’t expect to see me too often in September or May!! Migration time is like a holiday for me.

What brought you to ZLMC?

What brought me to ZLMC was a search for sangha. I’ve been dabbling in Buddhism for several years, but haven’t found a group I could practice with.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Currently, I’m a member of the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale. I started a Buddhist group there. We meet every Monday, meditate and study the dharma together. My regular meditation practice waxes and wanes. I have started a regular solo retreat practice which I do about once per season. Beyond that I try to stay mindful in the present moment.
